Acuity shuts down Winona production facility

Recently, according to foreign media reports, Acuity's manufacturing facility in Winona, Minnesota will gradually cease operations by the end of August 2026. This relocation will result in the elimination of 86 jobs, with production primarily shifting to the Indiana manufacturing plant located in Crawfordsville.

Acuity acquired Winona Lighting in 2010. As revenue grew, the manufacturing footprint evolved accordingly. The Winona brand itself was discontinued in November 2022, with all transitions completed before August 2023. Since then, the Winona factory has primarily produced small-batch custom architectural luminaire for other Acuity brands (including Mark, Peerless, Healthcare Lighting, Hydrel, and A-Light).

Company spokesperson stated: "As part of our ongoing efforts to optimize the manufacturing network to better serve customers and long-term business needs, we will close the Minnesota production facility and primarily shift manufacturing operations to the Indiana production site." "We value and appreciate the contributions of the MNPF team and the role this plant has played over the years."

Acuity Inc. is one of North America's largest lighting and smart building technology enterprises. In recent years, Acuity has gradually transformed from a lighting manufacturer into a broader industrial technology company and a smart building and smart space technology platform provider. It operates two major business segments—Acuity Brands Lighting (ABL) and Acuity Intelligent Spaces (AIS)—achieving growth by developing innovative products and services such as lighting, lighting control, building management solutions, and audio-visual and control platforms to address challenges in spaces and lighting.

The company places customer needs at the core, expands market share by driving growth and enhancing efficiency to create superior returns. At the same time, it actively deploys capital to expand its business and enter attractive new verticals.

Acuity Inc. is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with operations in North America, Europe, and Asia, employing approximately 13,000 people worldwide.
